Questions
What is the difference between cropping and resizing a video?
Cropping removes part of the picture. Resizing changes the size of the output frame and decides what happens to whatever no longer fits. You often want both: crop to the subject, then resize to the platform.
Can I crop a video to a square?
Yes. Set the crop ratio to 1:1 and drag the box over the part you want to keep.
Does cropping lose quality?
The pixels you keep are unchanged, but cropping forces a re-encode, so there is one generation of compression. At the High quality setting that is not visible.
Can I crop out a watermark or a logo?
Only if it sits near an edge you can cut away. Cropping removes whole rectangles from the outside in — it cannot remove something from the middle of the picture.
Can I crop each clip separately?
Yes. The crop belongs to the clip, so a project made of several clips can crop each one differently.
