Resize video online

Change the frame your video lives in — 16:9 to 9:16, landscape to square, or any size you type. The interesting part is what happens to the footage that no longer fits, and you get to choose.

What you can do

Presets for every platform

Instagram Reels and posts, TikTok, YouTube and Shorts, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, all at the pixel sizes each one actually wants.

Three ways to fill the frame

Crop to fill and reposition by hand; fit with a solid colour behind; or fit with a blurred, scaled copy of the video itself.

Any custom size

Type a width and height. Dimensions are kept even, because H.264 cannot encode an odd one.

Reframe, do not just letterbox

When you crop to fill you can slide the picture inside the new frame, so the subject stays in shot.

Questions

What size should a video be for Instagram Reels?

1080 × 1920 — a 9:16 portrait frame. The same size works for TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Facebook Stories, which is why one export usually covers all four.

How do I turn a landscape video into a portrait one?

Set the canvas to 1080 × 1920 and pick a fill mode. "Crop to fill" keeps the picture sharp but loses the sides; "blurred background" keeps the whole picture and fills the gaps with a blurred copy of itself.

Will resizing make my video blurry?

Making it smaller will not. Making it larger than the source stretches the pixels you already have, so it will look softer — that is true of every tool, not just this one.

Does resizing reduce the file size?

Usually yes, because there are fewer pixels to encode. If you want to hit a specific file size, set a lower resolution and a lower quality together.

Can I resize without cropping anything out?

Yes. Choose "Fit with bars" or "Blurred background" — both keep the entire picture and fill the leftover space rather than cutting into it.
