How to take a compliant passport photo at home

A resize tool can set the frame, pixels, background fill, and export format. Acceptance still depends on the original photo quality, pose, lighting, and the official rule for your application.

Before you upload

  • Use a recent, sharp, front-facing photo with both eyes visible.
  • Stand in even light and avoid shadows behind the head or under the chin.
  • Use a plain white, off-white, or light background unless the application says otherwise.

While cropping

  • Choose the exact country, visa, ID, or print-sheet preset first.
  • Use Fill for strict passport crops and Fit only when the full image must remain visible.
  • Keep the head centered with natural shoulders and space above the hairline.

Before submission

  • Download JPG for most online portals unless PNG or WebP is specifically accepted.
  • Check file-size limits separately; some portals require extra compression after resizing.
  • Do not use altered, filtered, or AI-edited photos where official rules prohibit edits.

Private browser-based processing

Your photo is read with FileReader, drawn to HTML canvas, and exported from local memory with canvas.toBlob(). The editor does not need to upload your passport, visa, or ID image to a server.

No account or watermark

Resize and download without sign-up, email capture, or output watermarks.

Works on mobile

Upload from a phone camera roll, adjust the crop with touch controls, and save the finished file.

Use official guidance

Resizo helps with sizing and cropping, but the issuing authority has the final decision on acceptance.
